How To Fix Your Minnie Ears So They Won't Give You A Headache

When you go to Disney, there’s nothing like having a fresh new pair of ears to wear at Disney. They are getting more and more popular because they’re adorable. The only real problem I have with the Minnie Mouse ears is that they give you a headache.

I’ve talked with other Disney fans and asked do you get a headache from your ears? The consensus is most people get headaches from their Minnie Mouse ears. So what is one to do? How can you wear ears without them giving you massive headache? First, never wear a fresh pair of ears longer than you’re comfortable wearing them.

If after 20 minutes you get a headache take them off right when that headache starts. They call these headaches external compression headaches. It’s caused by the headband putting pressure on your head.

The sad truth is you have to break in the ears. Also, since the headband can break, be careful. The best way to break in your ears and is wearing them as long as you can stand them and take them off. There’s also another good way of breaking them in.

Find an object that your ears will stay in place on expanded. Leave them overnight. Those Styrofoam heads won’t work for this because they’re too small. I found that my little green man popcorn bucket works perfect for this.

Sometimes one overnight stretch will not solve the problem. But you find you can go longer without the headache. If you repeat this process between wearing the headband, it will become easier to wear it longer.

Another alternative is wearing homemade Minnie Mouse ears. Made with a headband you know won’t give you a headache. Some headbands, especially craft headbands, are looser and they don’t hurt. Some create handmade Minnie Mouse Ears with comfort in mind. That’s another option, you could always go to Etsy.

Or you can find a tutorial on how to make Mickey Mouse ears online. I want to love the no sew tutorials but I’ve tried several and I hate them. The no sew tutorials are tricky because you use a hot glue gun and may burn your fingers. I prefer the sewing method.

The Bottom Line is if your Minnie Ears are giving you a headache, try stretching it out overnight. Before I did this, it could take a year to get them to where they weren’t giving me a headache. I found once I tried stretching my headbands out it made a huge difference in my comfort level.

What do you do to make wearing ears more comfortable?
